We, as teachers of minorities, need to share our positive, powerful stories about those youth/families that are far beyond the stereotypes. We all have kids that have achieved no matter what they deal with at home. We have parents that struggle beyond anything I deal with and get their kids to school, ready to learn. We need to TELL the public that there are kids & families that do so much for society by letters to the editor, oral stories, & maybe short stories for magazines!
